What will I get with the full software ?
The full software gives automatic recording. It starts recording at the very beginning of the phone call and stops at the end. However you need a RecOnBox, automatic recording don't work with a modem.

Modem vs RecOnBox ?
You can record either through a modem or through a RecOnBox. Depending on the type of modem you have, you may experience delays when switching on/off recording. DTMF recording may not work or be wrong. Because modem have slow response time and cannot detect outgoing phone calls, automatic recording is only possible with a RecOnBox.

I'm not getting any Caller Id information !
You should suscribe to the caller id service. RecOnPhone uses your modem to detect the caller id, so you should have a valid modem installed on your PC. Click on "Test Caller Id", follow instructions, in case of failure click "Ask for support".

Will Reconphone record no matter which phone in the house is used ?
If the phones are connected to the same line : Yes. Phones are on the same line when you can't use them at the same time or when you do you're on the same call.

Is there a warranty/money back guarantee ?
Yes. There's a full one year warranty and a 30 days money back guarantee.

How exactly does the RecOnBox connect to my computer ?
Locate a female phone jack from wich your phone line comes in your house and into wich you plug your phone. Plug in the supplied phone adaptor. This will give you two female jacks. Use one for your phone and the other one for the RecOnBox. This RecOnBox have another plug : a mini audio jack. Plug this one in the microphone input (red or pink entry) of your PC sound card.

How much audio data can I store ?
With ADPCM compression, 70 hours of recording could be stored in 1 Gigabyte of hard drive space.

Can I directly record in mp3 ?
Yes, if you have a mp3 codec installed in your computer. It is normally supplied with the Windows OS. If you don't have it, you can get it along with some software like the Microsoft Media Player.

What is displayed on screen in hidden mode ?
Nothing ... To show the software again, just re-launch it.

Is there a RecOnPhone software upgrade?
Old registered customer are emailed when a major version is released. Minor upgrades are free. If you're not whether you can have the upgrade for free, email us.

Does RecOnPhone works with ADSL ?
Yes. RecOnPhone do not interfere with any phone or any adsl modem.

Does RecOnPhone works with ISDN ?
No. But your phone company can install POTS (classic) lines from your ISDN lines.

Does RecOnPhone works behind a PBX ?
If you have POTS (classic) phone handsets: Yes
Otherwise try to connect a 56K (or 33K) modem between the wall phone plug and your phone, if this modem works (don't forget extension) RecOnPhone will work too. You can also simply ask your PBX reseller how to connect a modem to your phone line and do it for RecOnPhone.

Is phone recording legal ?
US federal law allows phone recording when at least one party (caller or receiver) consents. The following states however require a "two-party consent" : California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Washington.
For other countries please refer to local regulations.

Will it work in my country ?
The phone system is about the same all over the world. We have sold succesfully in North America, Europe, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Africa, Middle East, ... It should be the same evrywhere. However, if your phone plug is not of US type, you will need a phone adaptor. These adaptors could easily be found locally.
